    Nandana

    Dear Nandana,

Sorry I took a while to reply. I didn't think any one was reading this thread any more, but was pleasantly suprised to find your response when I read it today.

To answer your questions - yes I feel drawn to spiritual healing work but have not had much opportunity to practice it.

Thanks for your kind comments about my chart. I was particularly interested in what you said about the Tapsavi yoga. I do feel inclined to follow the spiritual path more seriously at some stage in my life although I am happily enjoying a householder existance at the moment. Can you explain a little bit more about this. Is it a hinderance to have Jupiter in the 12 the house in Navamsa for spiritual pursuits? As far as I know there are no errors in the birth time.

    Kind regards

As working with biija mantra is more effective in sadhana, use Durga Biija Mantra as is stated in PRANATOSINI 4_KamyaKanda (

    Velthius transliteration):

    da durgaavaacaka.m devi ! |

    ukaara"scaapi rak.sa.ne |

    vi"svamaataa naadaruupa.h kurvartho binduruupaka.h |

    tasmaattenaiva biijena durgaamaaraadhayecchive ! ||

    duu.m ||

I think you can do the difference between short u and long U in sanskrit.

Thinking about psychic abilities, I can told you 2 things: if you have not since born any kind of psychic power, the chances to develop one simple by repeating a mantra is null; the second part, only from your personal practice you can develop your powers, but this requires some years of practice. If you don't receive the mantra from a person with mantra-virya, your effort will be more time consuming, till the moment you will gain the power to wake up any mantra, even if is one you read in book. Without this mantra-virya, there are no fruits. The practice will reduce to simple japa yoga, so maybe your mental will be calmed down, but that is, no psychic power at all. And run, fast, run away form any "guru" who offers you "initiations".

Then about psy-powers again: try to approach dasha maha vidya system, and specially Bagalamukhi and Matangi vidya; all the 10 maha vidya offer siddhis. If you don't know and don't practice yoga and other kind of disciplines, take your life and enjoy worldly pleasures. :)

Arasel, Thanks again for posting the Durga bija mantra. You have raised some interesting points. I would really like to get initiated into the Sri Vidya tradition but I have not found a teacher to initiate me into this tradition. I don't particularly trust the advertisements on the web offering initiations. So since I do not have access to a guru the next best thing is to take the Devi as my guru and try to obtain a shakti by doing japa. Not sure if this will yeild desired results or not, but I am sure I will gain some benefits. Afterall, mantra japa has various benefits if not siddhi powers.

I read with interest your discussion above and I feel the necessity to explain two things: one truth is the Buddhist imagery of Shakti and her partner is more explicit sexual associated; the second: all those images are symbolic representation of some principles. So if someone feels lust for an image of Shakti, in any form, even she’s naked, he must forget about sadhana and go in this world for a woman, because it is clear he has a wrong perception about Shakti as Devi or divine presence. But, on the other part, it is stated on kali sadhana, that a vira can approach Devi in her naked aspect. I don’t believe the person being in pashu state can do this, so the advice for such persons is to go worldly sense, resolve their problems with women and sexual frustration then return to Devi and love her in the mother aspect. All the other ways are wrong and will give him troubles.

Arasel, Thanks for your reply. Not sure why you brought the above into this discussion. I beleive every devi bhakta is well aware of avoiding any sexual association regarding any form of Shakti regardless of whether she is naked or not. I personally consider the Devi as my mother, besides I am a heterosexual female -- so there is no way I would have any sexual association towards the naked form of a Shakti. Besides why place any importance on nakedness? For me it personally does not matter. As a health practioner I see naked bodies (men and women) all the time -- and it's no big deal.

  4. This request goes out to Ravindran ji (or anyone who is familiar with Tantric Texts),

I am very interested in learning Tranta. Could you kindly recommend what Tantric Texts I should read in order to get a sound understanding of Tantra? If you coul list "must read" Tantric Texts for beginners and advanced level practitioners it would be immensely helpful to those who are interested in this topic. I am interested in English translations as I do not speak Hindi. However, for the benefit of others may be you could also list Hindi / Sanskrit texts.

    Many thanks.

  5. Dear Astro Guruji's,

There are many paths to God. As they say "there is horses for courses" it is imporatnt to be on the spritual path that one is suited for. This is where astrology can be of immense help. This is a question that would interest those who are searching for the a suitable spiritual path. Can someone please enlighten us on the astrological indications for someone who is suited for the Tantric path. Thank you.:)

  6. Dear luv4god,

As Ppena ji and others have pointed out very wisely without having to even check horoscopes it is obvious from what you have written that you will be better off getting a divorce rather than trying to force the situation by wanting your husband to change. And waiting patiently for him to change may not be a good idea as well. How long are you going to wait? Are you willing to put your life on hold indefinitely? You see, Luv4god, I have been through what you are going through right now and have survived it! I not only survived it but once I let go of being attached to a particular outcome I realized that the Universe had much better things in store for me. Today I am happily married to a wonderful man! My first marriage was arranged and couple of astrologers confirmed the horoscope matched – which I find surprising when I think of it now. My first husband seemed to be the perfect son-in-law that my parents wanted and naturally I liked him as well. He was good-looking, well-educated and very well off. Before we got married he presented himself as the perfect gentleman, considerate, attentive, generous, always going out of his way to please my parents etc. But he was wearing mask! After few months into our marriage I discovered he had another side to him -- he was pathologically jealous, controlling and unreasonable to the point I felt like I was a prisoner in his house. It was a nightmare with him hurling constant accusations at me and picking fights with almost every day. Clinically this problem is known as a paranoid personality disorder (PPD). At first I wished him to change but I soon realized that I was being very naive -- he was just being who he really is and a leopard never changes his spots! When I realized there was no hope for him I decided to get a divorce. You see if you are in a relationship with some one whom you are trying to change then that relationship is never going to work. You can only change yourself. You can't change other people. So I weighed things up – I asked myself do I want to be with the wrong person or do I want to explore other possibilities and find real happiness? After that the decision was easy! Letting go of wanting a particular outcome (that is wanting my husband to change) has been very liberating for me. I now apply that to everything in life. So I got divorced. Couple of years later I met a wonderful man and got married to him and at the moment I am very happily married (we didn't even check horoscopes). I guess that is my reward for learning from my first marriage and making the inner transformation. To you Luv4god, I can say this -- sometimes for something really good to come into your life you need to clean up the clutter and debris from something that is not working for you. You need to make room other possibilities. Good luck.

    Significantly,

Religion can also be a nonsense. Ultimately its all coming from human brain the way you take it is the way it counts.

Even I know Dharma Initiative is a televised nonsense but it screws up the mind with the mysteries, but in my humble opinion its way too better than the orthodox legacies some religion create using ridiculous ideas pitched by their so called leaders.

Have a look at Stephen King's remake of The Mist released in 2008. It shows what meaningless religion does to people at times of distress.

    wbr

    Ayush

Yes, one must be a bit weary of organised religions and their dogmas.

  9. Hi Ayush,

The reason 108 is scared is that it signifies the wholeness of divinity and perfect totality.

As for the connection of the Valenzetti Equation with <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:country-region><st1:place>Sri Lanka</st1:place></st1:country-region>, this connection is totally fictitious. Just a fantasy story created for an alternate reality game show by a group called The Lost Experience and shown in the <st1:country-region><st1:place>USA</st1:place></st1:country-region>, <st1:country-region><st1:place>UK</st1:place></st1:country-region> and <st1:country-region><st1:place>Australia</st1:place></st1:country-region>. In my opinion it is just televised nonsense! I suspect the whole story surrounding this equation is also fictious. If you are interested in harmonic codes I suggest that you read the work of Bruce Cathie who has done some interesting research on harmonics of reality.

Here are some more interesting tidbits about why 108 is significant from a metaphysical perspective:

    • Sacred within Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and connected yoga and dharma based practices.
    • A mala usually has beads for 108 repetitions of a mantra.
    • Hindu deities have 108 names. Recital of these names, often accompanied by counting of 108-beaded Mala, is considered sacred and often done during religious ceremonies. The recital is called namajapa.
    • It is described in the Srimad Bhagavatam that Krishna dances with 108 'Gopis' (cow-herd girls) in His Vrindavan pastimes, and later marries 16,108 wives in His city of Dwarka. Hare Krishna devotees thus hold 108 as a number of great significance.
    • Siva Nataraja dances his cosmic dance in 108 poses.
    • The total of all digits of 108 (1+0+8) is 9, which in Hinduism is said to represent the 9 tattvas[citation needed]. If you divide 108 by 2 or multiply by 2 the total of all digits again equals 9.
    • 2^2 * 3^3 = 108 ( (2 * 2) * (3 * 3 * 3) )
    • The number of sins in Tibetan Buddhism.
    • In the <st1:place><st1:PlaceType>temple</st1:PlaceType> Angkor</st1:place> Wat area there are numerous references to the number 108, which plays a significant role in the symbolism of the structure.
    • Ananda Coomaraswamy holds that the numerology of the decimal numeric system was key to its inception. 108 is therefore founded in Dharmic metaphysical numerology. One for bindu; zero for shunyata and eight for ananta.
    • In Japan, at the end of the year, a bell is chimed 108 times to finish the old year and welcome the new one. Each ring represents one of 108 earthly temptations a person must overcome to achieve nirvana.
    • Zen priests wear juzu (a ring of prayer beads) around their wrists, which consists of 108 beads.[1]
    • Many Buddhist temples have 108 steps.[1]
    • Hindu Kshatriya Dhangars have 108 clans. The lineage of these clans is from solar and lunar dynasties. It should be noted that the diameter of the Sun is 108 times the diameter of the Earth. The distance from the Sun to the Earth is 108 times the diameter of the Sun. The average distance of the Moon from the Earth is 108 times the diameter of the Moon.
    • The Eklingji temple complex includes 108 temples within its walls.
    • In Hindu Astrology there are 12 Rashis or Zodiacs and 9 Planets or Navagrahas. 12 X 9 = 108. There are 27 Lunar mansions or Nakshatras which are divided in 4 Padas or quarters each. 27 X 4 = 108.
    • There are 108 holy temples of Vishnu.
    • Sahasranamastotra or Sahasranama (1008 names (List of 10,000 names is given to a rishi called Tandi by Shiva; the rishi gives it to Upamanyu, and the latter to Krsna in an abridged. He gives only one tenth of the names, viz. 1008 names)) has a total of 108 shlokas.
    • The Lankavatara Sutra repeatedly refers to the 108 steps.[2]

  10. Greetings to all Astro Gurujis.....

For sometime I have been contemplating on choosing the Tantric path to reach my spiritual goals. Before I go down that road I want to check if astrologically that is a suitable path for me... will I have success??

    My details are given below:

    DoB: 28/02/1969

    Time: 2.42pm

    Place: Colombo, Sri Lanka

    Please advise me.

    Many thanks.

    HST108

  11. Bhairo ji, by the way, are you a practicing trantric?? Sorry, if I am putting you on the spot by asking you this.....but I get the feeling you are.;) As you said else where that most genuine tantrics keep quiet about their abilities and prefer to remain unaccessible... you might not want to discuss it here. I understand and I hope you won't take offence about me being curious. :)

  12. Dear Bhairo ji,

As advised by you (in the Shakti Sadhana forum), I have completed 10800 jap of my guru mantra which you said I will need for protection. As you advised, I did 10% of that with havan and 10% with tarpan. So please tell me what I need to do next.

You see, I have two goals in mind:

    (1) I would like to obtain a shakti -- the aspect of the goddess that I love most is Ma Durga

    (2) I would also like to try yakshini sadhana since the beings that the psychic women saw around me could be potentially yakshinis.

I did a search for Ashta Yakshini sadhana and foud the following information from a previous post on this website. I have copied this information below (see section hilighted in purple). What are your views on this?

Ashta means eight in Sanskrit. Yakshinies are divine nymphs capable of

fulfilling every aspect of one's life. This ritual is for appeasing eight of

them. Here is a brief description of each of them:

    Sur Sundari

Sur Sundari is extremely beautiful and is capable of provides financial status, wealth and property.

    Manoharini

Manoharini has a mesmerizing personality and she, too, is capable of making one wealthy.

    Kanakavati

Beautiful, teenage Kanakavati is capable of giving the power to defeat all enemies.

    Kaameshwari

Youthful Kaameshwari has a seducing personality. She provides pleasure and money.

    Rati Priya

Rati Priya has golden complexion and she like golden ornaments. She provides happiness and strength.

    Padmini

Padmini has big, beautiful eyes. She helps develop self-confidence and mental strength.

    Nati

Nati provides protection and safety in every situation.

    Anuragini

Anuragini's beautiful complexion is fair and radiant. She provides wealth, fame and respect.

    Method of performing this ritual

Starting from any friday, at around midnight, after bathing, wear clean, pink,

silk clothes and sit facing north on a woolen mat with your legs folded. Wear

purfume, light a ghee lamp, some incence sticks and chant 51 rounds of the

    following mantra using Sphatik rosary:

    <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place>
    Om
    </st1:place>
Ayeim Shreem Ashta Yakshini Aagachchha Aagachchha Swaha

Repeat the procedure for 21 nights while remaining celibate and avoiding non-veg

    food, alcohol, smoking etc.

Please, note. This ritual is not for beginners. It works quickly and can be

fatal if not done properly. If you are new to advanced tantra, DO NOT attempt

this ritual. You should always consult your Guru (spiritual teahcer) before

commencing any ritual because without a Guru, you'll never be successful no

    matter how hard you try.

Your guidance will be much appreciated. :)

    Many thanks.

    HST108

  13. Dear Bhairo,

Thank you so much for consulting the Devi and answering my questions. I am very grateful to you for that. Thank you! Thank you!

If I get any success in my sadhanas I want to serve others in a meaningful way. That is definitely my aim. Thank you once again for the encouragement Bhairoji.

Look forwad to hearing about the asta yakshini sadhana.

    Kind regards,

    HST108
