  1. Does anybody know who the mantra guru of Sri BV Puri Maharaj is? He said that he received Hari Nama from Sri BSST, but not who his mantra guru is. P D

  3. Hari Bol! I think it will be difficult to unite all Gaudiya Vaishnavas in a preaching mission. There are too many differences between the various organizations and paramparas. ISKCON has for example forbidden their members to associate with "non-ISKCON entities" such as Gaudiya Math gurus, etc. WVA seems like a very tolerant movement. But, as mentioned, they do not accept non-GM/non-ISKCON Vaishnavas as members, as far as I know. The traditional Gaudiyas are not so interested in traveling to the West for preaching, especially not Babajis, who are expected to stay in the Holy Dhamas and not move around too much. They are also busy with taking care of the disciples they have, doing bhajana, preaching in the Dhama, and so on. P D
  4. LOL! I am married with a woman from Sridham Nabadwip for six years now, and I never had a mob chasing me. If the girl´s family is good, then there will be no problem. P D

  12. In 1995 I met Sri Bhakti Vaibhava Puri Maharaj in Sridham Mayapur. He did have a saintly radiance. He said something about the beauty of Sriman Mahaprabhu and His lilas, how it has made him disinterested in the material world. When BV Puri Maharaj mentioned Mahaprabhu´s name, he smiled and his whole face was shining. I offer my dandavats to B V Puri Maharaj P D

  15. Dear jndas, Thanks for re-posting that posting by Brahma das ji. It does seem like Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati received initiation from Srila Gaurakisora dasa Babaji. SBSS presented himself as an initiated sisya of SGKDB. It does seem highly improbable that he would do so if he wasn´t actually initiated. I mean, anybody could have found out that he wasn´t, simply by asking the Babaji about it. This is a good argument to use against those who doubt whether he was initiated or not. But, there is one thing I don´t agree with. SBSS didn´t present his line as Sri Advaita-parivara, which is the lineage of SGKDB and his diksa-guru Srila Nandakisora Dasa Gosvami. All Gaudiya Vaishnavas pass on the guru-parampara, and a chart of it is given to the initiated disciples. It seems a little disrespectful to neglect doing so. Therefore it seems like he for some reason didn´t accept the guru-parampara fully. Also, he didn´t use the tilaka of Advaita-parivara. It is an old tradition, that a sisya receives the tilaka of the guru-parampara from his guru. I hope that I am wrong when I say that it seems like SBSS didn´t respect the line of diksa gurus. Perhaps he did. I haven´t seen any statements by him saying that he didn´t accept the guru-parampara of SGKDB. If I have committed any vaishnava-aparadha, I hope that Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati will accept my sincere apology so that I will get a chance to go where he probably is now, serving Sri Sri Radha-Krishna as Nayana-mani Manjari. P D
  16. Exactly. The problem only arises when GM people start slandering, then I get in a position when I have to defend my guruparampara and practically the whole "non-Gaudiya Math" branch of Gaudiya Vaishnavism. Also, I think it is necessary that somebody tries to give GM/ISKCON followers a larger perspective on the world of Gaudiya Vaishnavism. They are generally not open enough to see advanced souls outside their own institutions. They inherit a particular point of view from their gurus, which they repeat like small parrots, without actually finding out if it is true or not. Ultimately I think it has to do with if one desires to perform raganuga-sadhana or not. If one wants to get srious about it, then one has to find a qualified teacher. That means one has to go outside the institutions. P D

  20. It is true that there are siddha mahatmas who are active in some spiritual institution. And there are those who are not. The real issue here is whether there are any truly liberated souls who can teach the authentic method of performing raganuga-sadhana, as taught via a continuous guru-parampara, in GM/ISKCON. Then you first of all have to show what your guru-parampara is. From the time of Sri Caitanya, through what line did the mantras come to Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati?Because practically all traditional Gaudiyas doubt that there is a true parampara in GM/ISKCON. It is not a challenge, just a simple question. If you tell me, I won´t bring up the question of your guru pranali again. P D

  22. I didn´t say that GM condemns all Babajis, neither do I believe that all persons in the world calling themselves "Babaji" are authentic. That would be foolish. But the fact is that the Swami replies to the question (whether it´s ok to read Srila _ _ _ _ _ _ Babaji Maharaja´s books; and it is obvious that it is Srila Ananta das Babaji!) by telling a story about a sahajiya babaji. This is what I object to. P D [This message has been edited by premananda (edited 05-25-2001).]

  24. I wonder if you have read the text at all. First the question is asked if it is OK to read the books of Srila ____Babaji Maharaj. Then the Swami replies by telling a story about a babaji who has ritual sex. What do you make of that?
