I was hoping if somebody could clear a doubt of mine. I would very much appreciate it. When people chant the Hanuman Chalisa, and when they reach the doha, they always recite a few more lines after it. It usually goes along the lines of "Siyaan vara Ramchandra ki jai, ... " . I don't know where I read it, but I've always said these lines after reading the Doha;

Pavan Tanay Sankat Harana 
Mangala Murati Roop
Ram Lakhana Sita Sahita 
Hriday Basahu Soor Bhoop

"Siyaan vara Ramchandra ki Jai
Uma vara Shambhoonaath ki Jai
Pavan Suta Hanuman ki Jai"

The second line, "Uma vara Shambhoonaath ki Jai", I swear I heard it somewhere. But now I don't find it anywhere on the net. I fear I might have been reciting it all wrong during this whole time. It's making me crazy because by His blessings, I managed to keep a fast for Lord Hanuman and recited the Chalisa ending it with these lines after the Doha. And now I am feeling ridden with anxiety and doubts, fearing that my fasting has gone to waste. I know this may sound very trivial to some, but it means a lot for me. I am a very anxious person. I would gladly appreciate if someone could clear my doubts. Thank you a lot!

Which color is the best ? 

Someone advised me that lord shiva without any snake is the best. Is it true ?

Some time ago my father had a vivid dream that intrigued me to the bone. An Indian looking woman told him "Anande Ha Ni", he woke up & scribbled down her message "Anand Hani". He is not into spirituality nor languages, he just instinctively felt her message is important to want to remember it.
Since that morning I've been digging Sanskrit forums, as I recognised the word Ananda for Bliss. I am not sure if the phrase consists of two or three words, nor of its real origins. So far I got:

Ananda - Bliss
Ha - Meditation or Water or Silence (different suggestions from different forums)
Ne - through (as in path, go through)

I am rather intrigued as I take it she told my father: "The path to Bliss lies through Meditation/Water/Silence" or something along the lines.
Now, It could be that these are not two separate words "Ha Ne/ Ha Ni" but one Hane/Hani, yet I have not found anything that I like that fits the puzzle yet....
I also remain humbled by the fact that notwithstanding different semantic meanings (but after all not that surprising) both Meditation and Water have Silence in common. Whether you meditate or dive, you meticulously observe your respiration (or lack therof). Whichever way you go about it reaching that inner Silence indeed feels Blissful.

I am in the process of memorizing the 108 names of Shiva. I have a few questions and would appreciate it if anyone can provide me with answers: 

1. Before I start each recitation of the 108 names of Shiva, am I supposed to propitiate any other deity such as Ganesha? If so what mantras do I need to recite?

2. Are the 108 names in any particular order? Curious as they seem randomly ordered to me. 

3. How were these 108 names chosen from Shiva's 1008 names? Are the 108 names the most important in some way? 

4. What is the source text for the 108 names of Shiva? 

5. Are all of Shiva's aspects names included in Shiva's 1008 names? For example how many of Shani's 108 names are included in Shiva's 1008 names? 

6. What is the benefit of memorizing the 108 or 1008 names of Shiva versus just reading them each time you choose to recite them? Does it even matter that I memorize them? 

7. Has anyone out there memorized the 108 names or better yet the 1008 names? 

I have some doubts, and I would like to get an advise from our group members.I am new to this forum,so I dont know whether I posted on the right forum or not.

1)In Thirumandiram, swami explained different types of panchaksharis - AUM Namah Shivaaya,AUM Shivaaya Namah, Shivaaya Shiva Shiva and explained in different names like sookshma panchakshari,karana panchakshari,athi sookshma panchakshari.Which type of panchakshari is suitable for ordinary people or who is at the beginning level of sadhana?.From the child hood i heard about AUM namah shivaaya and I am chanting the same. (still I am reading Thirumandiram,and not completed all the tantras in the text).Practically is there any difference between the different panchaksharis?
                                     I am reading  a malayalam commentary of Thirumandiram.It mentioned that the mantra "Shivaya Shiva Shiva " is equal to "Thri suparna mantra" which mentioned  in the upanishads.Can you please advise me what is Thrisuparana mantra "and its importance.

 2)Can we keep Shivlinga at home?If we can keep Shivlinga ,then what type of Shiv Linga we can keep?.I have a copy of Maha Shiva puranam.It mentioned that for chara (movable )lingam the height should be equal to or  more than our thump size. Height should not be less than the thump. But there is no problem even if the height is more than our thump size. But some achaaryas  says the height should be less than our thump size. I came to know from websites that we can keep Sphatika Lingam or Narmada Shivlingam  in home.
3)Also it is mentioned in the purana that except bana Linga, for all other lingams,the yoni or peetham should be constructed with the same material. For eg If we are using sphatik lingam the peetham or yoni also should be sphatik.

 Really it would be grateful if somebody can advise on these points.

I have a small question related to theethu due to child birth.

My marriage is in exactly 6 days from today and today morning my fathers brother's son was blessed with a son. Now I know there is theetu, but at this stage we cannot cancel the marriage as all arrangements have already been done.

My mother is very upset that we don't do nandhi before, which would have shielded us.

I want to know if there is any parihara in this matter or should we just pray to god and go about it.
