Greetings

Most allergic bronchitis brought on during winter comes from pollutants in the

home.

A thorough cleaning especially carpet is most beneficial.

Depending on Dosha constitution different remedies can be offered, however Netti

Pot sinus irrigation, along with Naysa helps tremendously!  If Kapha is

predominant Dosha

then you can also include a salt inhaler.

Hi! I am not a doctor, I do not know the difference between bronchitis and

others but I am sending it if some thing can be useful from here .These are

things what I have been doing for my family. May be something some where comes

of help. You may consult the vaidyas before using any thing from here. This has

been cut and pasted from elsewhere. neti and steaming is also given below

CHEST CONGESTION

Chest congestion is quite a common problem, especially during winters.

* The easiest thing is to keep the chest warm. It can be covered with a light

sweater.

* Apply mustard oil in which camphor has been added to the chest and upper back

i.e. where the ribs are then cover it with a warm clothing, a sweater or a warm

vest.

* Alternately garlic and ginger can be boiled to the point of being charred in

mustard oil. This makes the oil warm, then bottle it and apply it as and when

needed.

* Taking steam is very good for any of the upper respiratory problems. Just

plain water steaming for ten minutes at a time, two to three or even four times

a day would help immensely.

* Turmeric with milk is also very good to decongest the chest.

* White rice, white sugar, curds and all cold foods, fried foods and foods that

are difficult to digest, should be avoided.

* Take plenty of water. That too warm water.

* Acupressure points between the webs of the hands at the back of the palms,

not fingers and feet will ease out the congestion from the lungs.

* Some deep breathing exercises will help. Just plain deep breaths without

getting tired is the key requisite of yoga. Do only as much as is possible.

Practice and repetition will take it further.

* I must mention that an upright posture is of utmost importance as the chest

should open out and the spine should be erect so that the air that is taken in

goes in properly and in full measure.Anulom vilom

There are some other natural methods that will ease out the problem of

breathing.

Neti

Take a glass of luke warm water, put some salt in it. This salt is essential, as

plain water irritates the nostrils. Put this water in a neti pot or a small

kettle, which has a spout. Place the spout inside one nostril and tilt your head

to the other side, the spout side up, bend forward from the back and keep your

free hand on it, automatically the water starts coming out of the other nostril.

Repeat this on the other side. After you finish with this sniff all the water

out. Otherwise it will cause problems. That is why if any one who is new to it

is advised to do it in front of a master.

Thus Neti clears the upper region, of the entire mucous that resides there and

causes all the problems related to cold, sinusitis, cough, breathing etc.

Steaming is another very effective procedure for respiratory problems. It has to

be plain water steaming. Do not try to add any herb or medicine to it.

Steaming along with lots of water to drink is very good even in fever.

Throughout our child hood we have been drinking warm water and taking it out to

clear out the phlegm inside. This is called the vaman dhauti or the vipritkarni

kriya.

Gargling with salted warm water is another effective means to remove the phlegm

from our system.

Another thing that was very helpful to my husband was changing sides while lying

down during an attack. Whenever these attacks came and his regular inhaler did

not work he preferred going to the nearby nursing home and take the big inhaler

there, usually it worked but on two occasions it did not. First time my mother

was there. When we brought him home after an unsuccessful trip to the nursing

home, my mother asked him to lie down on one side by doing this the nostril of

the side that was up opened up and when it opened she asked him to change the

side, now the other nostril opened out by alternating the breath like this for

12-15 minutes he became perfectly all right.

Though it is not anulom- vilom it has the same effect. May be it is a passive

form of the same.

I repeated the same procedure another time successfully.: taking water through

one nostril and removing it from the other. It seems difficult but is very easy

to do. is one pranayam that balances the ailing conditions of the body. Here

breth is taken by one nostril and exhaled through the other by closing with the

fingers and thumb. Breathe in through the left nostrilwhile closing the right

with the right thumb then close the left nostril with two fingers and breathe

out through the right nostril now again breathe in through the right while the

left is still closed and then close the right side with the thumb and breathe

out from the left again breathin from the left and breathe out from the right.

Steam inhalation with eucalyptus oil added to the water 2 times a day .

Early evening dinner with cutting down kapha increasing foods like sweets ,

fried food , preserved food , chilled food . Use of Nasya with Anutaila will be

best supportive . Oral medication should be taken under the supervision of

vaidya .

Bronchitis is a respiratory disorder in which the tubes that carry air to the lungs are inflamed and irritated. This causes the inner lining of these tubes to swell and produce mucus, leading to cough.
