Dear Friends, This set of questions is interesting.This can be a good learning exercise for all. 1a) Does the Sun have latitude?1b) What is the maximum latitude of the Moon? 2a) What is elongation?2b) Give the maximum elongation of Mercury and Venus?2c) What maximum distance can be there between these two inferior planetsto an observer from the Earth ? 3) What is Naibods measure? What does it represent? 4) What is the daily average motion of the Moon? 5a) Give the length of the solar and Lunar years.5b) What difference is there between the two?5c) How is this difference adjusted in a calendar. 6) What is mutual reception? 7) What is part of Fortune? What does it represent apart from the mathematical formulae? 8) What is the time taken for completing one revolution along the orbit by the following Planets -Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune. 9) Give the uses of the day in the following uses -9a) Solar Mean day.9b) Sidereal day. 9c) Lunar day. 10) What is sidereal time ? 11) What is the effects of retrograde planet -11a) According to Occidental astrology.11b) According to Indain astrology. 12)Give 3 illustrations where according to Indian method -12a) Mars and Saturn aspect each other.12b) Mars alone aspects Saturn.12c) Saturn alone aspects Mars.(In all 3 charts keep position of Saturn same) 13) Why is the South represented as the top of the Astrological chart? 14) The 9 Planets are shown in the Horoscope. Note: 1) We have some queries here related to Western astrology. One need not be averse to something Not Indian. After all research may show in future that what we consider as foreign may have actually originated from India only. This is just an exercise for GK and nothing more. To enjoy learning more, checking what we already know, and discussing. Though most of members here, may not practice western astrology, but knowing or keeping oneself aware with the basic terms and what they mean, is always good. 2) Do not ask me the answers. I may not know all of them.3) If members are interested I can send few sets more like these. But every time the questions would be harder and not easy like most of them above. The above are meant basically for the first year students of astrology. 4) Fear of failure must not be a reason not to participate. Unless we fail how will we learn ? Do not worry. I bet there is not a single astrologer on these Jyotish Groups who is close to this, though this is kid stuff for actual astrologers who are really educated in the real sense.

Though most of members here, may not practice western astrology, but

knowing or keeping oneself aware with the basic terms and what they

mean, is always good.
