[ Msg 13504 ] LSBhasya 47, 49 and 51.

49. sarvAruNA.

51 sarvAbharaNabhAsurA

48. mahAlAvaNyaSevadhih : The treasure-house of beauty

50. anavadyANgi : With fauthless, limbs.

52 : SivakAmeSvarANgasthA : Sitting on the lap of SivakAmeSvara.

The description of her physical form being ended that of the seat of

Devi is commence from this name.

A. Kama means that which is desired ; or her who assumes any form

at will, this epithet (kAmA) is also applied to Manmatha ( god of

love) who can also assume any form at will. The KalikA Purana

says, ` In the world there is none who like you is capable of

assuming any form ; hence O mind born one [Manmatha}, you shall be

known by the name Kama.

B. kAma means knowledge [ prajNana ]. The Sruti says : `What

is called the heart and the mind are perception [ saMjNAna ],

command, understanding, knowledge, wisdom, seeing, holding,

thinking, considering, readiness [ or suffering ] remembering,

conceiving, willing, breathing, loving, desiring ; know all these

are only various names of knowledge' In the said sruti the word

prajNAna means Siva only. The SutasaMhita also supports this

explanation. `VijNana, which is Samkara, is known by the learned

under many names. Some say it is the heart… some othe rtheists

call it control [ vaSya ]. But all these simply denote Siva'

C. Kama denotes the Lord who desires [ Kama ] to create the

universe. The Br. Up says `There was Atman only in the beginning.

He desired…. Thus for the desire [ Kama ]' Hence the word Kama

does not mean here Rudra or Manmatha.

KAMA IS THAT WHICH IS DESIRED TOO.

Thank you kochu. Some of you might be wondering as to what is this

all about.

Jaimaa108 and me have been using the LalitA-SahasranAm with

BhAskararAya's commentary, Translated into English by R.

Ananthakrishna Sastry.

We discovered that there are several printing errors in this text,

thanks to Arjuna who pointed it out to us. Right now I will continue

to post from the book and cross reference with the one we have in

the homepage. Kochu will correct if there is any mistakes.

Eventually we will summarises them all into one post.
