aakhri baar choonay do.
zindgi jo mujhay aakhri baar deti hai
mujhay lainay do
mujhay aakhri asheerwaad do
aaj mera thela sub khaali hai
jo kuch main nay dena thaa
vo sub de deeya hai
badlay main mujhay jo millay ga -
kuch pyaar, kuch maufi -
vo main apnay saath lay challonga
jab us kishti pe paaon rakhoonga
jo lay challaygi mujhay
sub lafzon ke melaay k paar.

tr. Ravi Kopra

from the following poem translated into English from Bengali. Tagore dictated this poem from his death bed.

Last Poems 10

I'm lost in the middle of my birthday.
I want my friends,
their touch,
with the earth's last love.
I will take life's final offering,
I will take the human's last blessing.
Today my sack is empty.
I have given completely
whatever I had to give.
In return if I recieve anything -
some love, some forgiveness-
then I will take it with me
when I step on the boat that crosses
to the festival of the wordless end.

-Rabindra Nath Tagore
Have fun !!
