Default THIRUP PAVAI 9

GURU KULA VASAM

Three divine names of the Lord are specifically uttered in the ninth
pAsuram(thUmaNI mAdathu). These three are prelude for uttereing further.

These three na:ma:s of divine are mAmAyan, mAdhavan, vaikunthan.

mAmAyan refers to the fact of Lord krishNa descending to the levels of gopikAs
and being easily accessible through his pranks and other such wonderful deeds.
We observe in this World that a person is not easily accesible when he is a bit
elevated either in status or otherwise. Lord krishNa who is the Lord of
everything is easily accessible. He is supreme. Hence, nature of independence
and the innate characteristics of supremacy come naturally to Him. This
saulabhyam - attracting the gopiKAs with this deeds- is it not strange to his
supremacy?

Oh! He mastered this art in Gurukula vAsam. One enters gurukulavAsam when one
wants to master a subject. The sustained stay in the teacher's residence enables
one to master the niceties and nuances of the subject. This elevates HIm to a
state where it is difficult to discern whether what he has mastered, is inherent
or imbibed.

The Lord, who is the epitome of supremacy, mastered this art of saulabhyam in
gurukulavAsam. We know that the Lord stayed with sAnthEpani. That was for
worldly studies. Here He went to learn the art of saulabhyam with pirAtti. That
is why the term 'mAdhavan' is mentioned.

The commenatry runs like this "saulabhyathukku, gurukulavAsamAna idam" when
referring to the term mAdhavan. The Lord's saulabhyam springs up from the
togethrness with the pirAtti is the inner meaning.

When one is easily accessible, the value is enhanced only when He is also
valuable. There is no surprise when one is accessible when he is not exalted.
The Lord being supreme and also along with pirAtti is immensely valuable and
saulabhyam sparkles as He is supreme and the supremacy sparkles as He is easily
accessible and both is possible because of pirAtti-mAdhavan.

"mAmAyan, mAdhavan,vaikunthan "
