Default Lalitasahasranama - English Translation - 10-14-2003, 08:25 PM

Lalita, the shortened form of Lalit-ambika means the playful one. Her
play consists in creation, sustentation and dissolution of the
universe as also the lifting of devotees from Samsara. She is the
Universal Spiritual Energy .

The Lalitasahasranama is a sequel to the Lalitopakhyana which forms
part of the Brahmanda Purana. It consists of three Chapters, namely
the introductory, the thousand names of the Great Goddess Lalita and
the third contains the usual Phalasruti.

We have completed the English Translation of the Dhynaman and the
introductory chapter in our homepage.

In the Introductory chapter, Agastya who has been listening to the
account of the deeds of the Goddess, given by Hayagrive, as set forth
in the Lalitopakhyana, asks the latter why he did not include in his
narrative the thousand names of the Goddess. For detail conversation
do check on the homepage at :

Namaste,

Yes, this is lovely. Thank you for the translation.

It makes me think of setting up a personal list of names for the Devi.

Who is the Goddess to pr?

The One who keeps pr sober
The One who gives her courage
The One who saved her from certain death
The One who provides beautiful sunsets for her pleasure
The One who provided pr with a wonderful family
The One who comforts her in despair
The One who graciously granted her her talents....

Blessings,

pr
