Default What the Shiva Purana actually says (Re: Shiva Sati story) - 02-14-2002, 03:02 AM

colin, dear one, thanks for doing all the 'leg' work on the
authencity of the web version of the SAti story. well, the author
does claim his version is based on shiva purana. he mentions the
origins of shakti peethas as well in this version. well, this is one
more lesson you have taught me that one should verify all sources
before posting a story... (library as well as web! smiles)

but, dear one veerabhadra was created by SHIVA ! so whether shiva
actually beheaded daksha or shiva's little soldier beheaded daksha is
only a technical 'detail'.

now, please allow me to ask you one small question! you know the
story where shiva reduced manmatha (the god of love -cupid) to ashes
and later revived the same manmatha through his spiritual energies!
so, you don't shiva could revive sati if he wanted to -if even if her
body was reduced to ashes? with god, all things are possible.
similarly goddess can also perform all kinds of miracles- these are
called siddhis or occult powers ! we know this from jesus and his
parables!

dear one, believe me i do appreciate all your efforts in verifying
the veracity and authencity of all vversions of the sati story. this
is wonderful,. keeps one on one's toes!

here are some questions i want to ask all of you?

1) what do you learn from the 'sati' story.

2) should a woman defend her husband's honor at all costs?

3) how does a man grieve for his beloved wife?

4) finally, are these myrths or legends or cock-and bull stories?

COLIN, you are indded an asset to this cyber shrine . please keep
sharing your views - keeps this temple pulsating with 'energy'

love and have a wonderful valentine's day!

(((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))) ))))))))
