Japa or Homa to Indra, the god of rain.

Dear Family,

Shree Maa and Swamiji have invited us to join with them in calling upon

Indra, the god of rain, to bring relief to the dry period we are

experiencing at the Devi Mandir, as well as to all other places in the

world suffering from drought.

Here's a story that Swamiji tells about Indra.

Unfortunately, in the ocean of objects and relationships there is a lot

of egotistical attachment. When the Sun rises with its luminous rays,

the Light of Wisdom and the Warmth of Devotion cause many of the waters

of attachment to evaporate. As the vapors rise into the sky, they form

a cloud known as Vritra, an asura whose predominant qualities are the

attachments derived from change and modification.

As Vritra gets bigger and blacker, he obscures the light of the Sun.

Then all the devotees call upon Indra, and when Indra is pleased with

the intensity of devotion, he smites the mighty Vritra with his

thunderbolt of illumination. The cloud parts, the rains fall, egotism

is dispelled, attachment is forsaken, the earth is nourished, the

devotees are energized, and the Sun, the Light of Wisdom, begins to

shine again.

Let's all call upon Indra: Om Lam Indraya namah (or Swaha), and make

our rivers swell, nourish our crops, feed the devotees, and gather

strength so we can pursue even greater forms of sadhana.

We are all invited to participate by making 108 japas or a homa to

Indra, each day, until sufficient rain comes.

Dear SwamiJi and Group, Namaste

Please, excuse me my little knowledge. If i am correct Indra is related to the mind. Sky may represent our mind. Perhaps the same mantra may be used to cure our own mind. Please, how can we control/minimize/eliminate our inner Vrittis with the help  of Indra? Could you indicate some sadhana to this?

most part, it is Maa´s and Swamiji´s

To Blessed Mother, Swamiji, friends at Devi Mandir, and the

innocents - the creatures and plants who trust in and never question

the eternal provision from Source - and all who are affected by the

dryness affecting Napa and the surrounding area,

I pray for Earth's healing and guidance for you, and for your

patience, compassion and understanding for Mother Earth, as She is

bringing to light and correcting the profound imbalance manifesting

by your troubling lack of rain. I pray that in Her Inifinite Wisdom,

the Earth opens our eyes to ways we can become better stewards and

conserve Her Bountiful Goodness in order to help Her heal.
