In my earlier mail i forgot to add the Shlokam

GAYATHRI JAPA SHLOKAM ( Having the same meaning as gayathri mantra ) ---- TO BE
RECITED 16 times -- morning and evening

Namaste,

A woman who wants to chant Gayatri should take diksha
from a sat guru.

In my life, I have met three women sat gurus. To the
best of my knowledge, they all teach Gayatri to women.

The point is that one chants Gayatri by the grace of
the sat guru. It is not because you are male or female.

namaste Sri Jesse Arana:

According to tradition, only males of brahmaNa, xatriyaa and vaishya varNa-s
are initiated to gaayatrii mantra at the time of upanayana. This is the case
for all of the recorded history that stretches to at least last two
milleniums. upanayana constitutes second birth, hence the above three are
called dviija-s. The initiation is done by the father or someone else in his
position and the veda maataa becomes mother. There are many additional rules
also.

Besides, going through upanayana ceremony is a must to get initiated. Your
"sat guru" theory for gaayatrii mantra has no support in shaastra.

As it was pointed out there are many other methods, which are open to all
and simpler to follow.
