I would ask the Goddess what such a dream about her
tiger means.
I had a repeating dream, while I was in college, in
which I would suddenly come upon a lion. I would be
terrified, and run away, and wake up with a start.
Many years later (still having the dream), I knelt
before a statue of Durga in the Hindu Temple in
Flushing. I suddenly became aware that all of the
murties were displayed with statues of their animal
vehicles kneeling before them. Durga was the
exception -- her statue had no vehicle. But I was
kneeling before Her, and my given name is Leonard,
meaning "like a lion."
The hair rose on the back of my neck, I swallowed
hard, pranam'ed, and whispered "Durga simham aham."
("I am Durga's lion.")
>From that moment, the nightmares about the lion
stopped. I think I was afraid to accept my role of
Devi's vehicle. Very oddly, my sister revealed to me
years later, that she had experienced a similar series
of nightmares wherein she was afraid of a lion! (I
never learned what these dreams meant to my sister.)
