Very short suggestions
Jai Gurudev,
Dear Gurubhais,
The postings are increasing at a very fast pace. It is really good
and I appreciate this. I would like to put some short suggestions
reg. new web site
1. instead of sadhnakishakti we may go for "SadhnaShakti" name
2. Reg. search, it should provide for word searching also, like i was
searching for Tratak but could not find.
3. pdf format is ofcourse best solution
4. a new section can be included for the recent sadhna camps showing
photographs of sadhna camp
and for the starting, i think its good to start with small but
complete instead of going for whole site showing "under
construction", i mean we should improve gradually in a solid manner
Reg. space there is a site name www.myspace.com, they give 300 MB
space to store, i think we can use that.
Rest continue.

Two issues on this -
a. I don't know how it is technically feasible. Almost all of our
terms are actually Hindi/Sanskrit words and they will always have
multiple english spellings (eg. tratak or traatak or trataak or
Trraatak). It might not be possible to group together various
variants. Any comments !
b. The Current search engine searches for individual words and
retrieves pages containing those words. However, it becomes messy if
the "concerned word" is present in global header (which is on top of
every page). eg. if word is "Kali" it gives correct pages containing
details/reference to "Kali". However, if word is "Gurudev", then it
gives all the pages, as all the pages have "about Gurudev" in the
header section. Any technical solution to this issue?? Frames might
become a bit messy, but will solve this issue. There are many, many
web developers on this forum. Any solution?
While you are about it (i.e. thinking about all this), can people do
a search in their favorite web search engine/directory/portal
(altavista, google etc.) for words like Mantra Tantra Yantra
Siddhashram etc. and tell if their search engine doesn't list our
website www.siddhashram.org We can produce a list of such sites and
then, we can ask Gurudham to list on those search
engines/directories/portal etc.

Yes. I haven't yet started working on the search engine, but would
remember your comment.

Pdf is not allowed at Brinkster. Also, to create a pdf file, we need
Adobe Acrobat, which is a commercial product and has a cost.

Good idea! This is a vital part. Why don't you take charge of the
photo section.

Myspace.com is an online file storage service, not a web hosting
service. We can't host our site there. I chose Brinkster because it
supports all the technologies I need for this project.
Keep it up...

Re: Very short suggestions
Jai Gurudev.
Alright. Let everyone post message on this discussion list. On a
rotation basis, members from the core group will scan the list, and
upload the website.
I think that we sud stick with 30 MB for the time being. We have only
59 members in the list currently, and there are only 3-4 active
members.
The mandate of this NEW site is to have personal articles from
Sadhaks (Not a reprint of the "official" articles from mag/books).
30 MB sud suffice for this type of content and activity.
If u are writing a new search engine, then it will be worthwhile to
design/develop it keeping the www.siddhashram.org in mind. Currently
www.siddhashram.org is using picosearch as search engine, and we can,
probably, putin your search engine later in www.siddhashram.org as it
will be a tailor made-customised-betterfeatures solution
Apart from other stuff, the search engine sud be able to filter out
noise words, have a updateable word groupings, and sud be able to
produce stats of words scanned etc. sud be fast and able to handle
thousands of pages. might be able to search in a category of pages
(eg. only sadhana related pages). plus of course any more goodies
that u can think of!
