Default Palmistry and the "simian line"

Greetings

Can anyone tell me what the Simian Line represents in Palmistry. I
have recently taken up Palmistry as a hobby, and read (or try to
read) the hands of family and friends... I have a mate who has a
single line that goes across his left hand (also known as a simian
line) There is no seperate head or heart line! I have read that this
is rare amoungst asian people. It is nearly the same on his right
hand but there is a small break of about 2/3mm before they meet in
the centre of the palm.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what this represents, as i find
reading this chaps hands difficult...

Regards
