Default Yoga and Epilepsy

Sat Nam

This is a rather important topic for me considering
that I am epileptic. I'm fortunate enough to have
medications without side effects that fully control my
condition. Other epileptics are not so lucky.

An article from an electronic newsletter tells of the
benefits of yoga for epilepsy patients. Those of you
who are interested can go to the following URL.

http://www.epilepsyfoundation.org/epusa/bu/yoga.html

Blessings
Rhea

Yogiji gave a good friend of mine a very basic kriya 30 years ago to
control his epilepsy. He did it everyday during lunch for a few weeks
and hasn't had an episode since then. He couldn't even induce one when
his doctors requested (he was part of a study) that he do so.

Sat Nam Rhea,

What a fine example of how yoga can be used as a tool, and the
possibilities
of doing yoga from an early age as a disease prevention are enormous.

One thing you should definitely avoid is nutra-sweet and any generic
form of it.

My late husband had seizures and any nutra-sweet at all interfered
with his dilantin and he had seizures.
Our neurologist reported similar effects with his epileptic patients.

I also get migraines if I have any nutra-sweet.

Water is just so much better if you want refreshing no calorie drinks

Sat Nam Christa

Agreed! I confess to a liking to diet soda and
Nutrasweet is in most brands.

I'm on different meds, though and experience no
trouble. Because of this I suspect that Nutrasweet
may act as a trigger for some epileptic contitions.

Blessings
Rhea

Have you tried the herbal sweetener stevia? It comes from plant in South
America. We use it to make lemonade - 1/3 a squeezws lemon and 1/8 teaspoon
of powered pure stevia in a glass of water. You can also cook with it

Sat Nam Dharam

Out of interest, do you happen to know the kriya your
friend used?
