Default In-div-i-dual Mind to Univeral Mind

Sat Nam Everyone,

Here's something for everyone. These concepts were'nt taught to
me in the beginning, I just picked them up from being around class,
going to WT and workshops. But I wished someone had taken the time
read this or describe it to me early on. These are good techniques
to use after a yoga kriya especially since the mind is slowed, its
easier to 'watch' yourself.

"There are two main ways to connect the individual mind to the
universal mind and build the supermind. The first method is
pratyahar. In this method you inject the universal mind into the
individual mind by a contraction process. You watch each thought
pattern that enters the mind. You substitute a positive thought for
each negative one so you become neutral or at least p ositive. If
you have desires in the individual mind that require action, use the
will to act only on those that are universal. Once this choice
becomes automatic you are practicing pratyahar. Everything will lead
you to connect and draw energy from the universal mind to the
individual mind.
The second method is Laya. The word itself means devotion,
aabsorption and levitation. The process suspends the self directly
in a sense of the infinite rather than by finding the infinite
starting with finite things. In Laya yoga techniques, you recognize
nothing in yourself except the infinite. These techniques always
involve the use of mantra with a special breathing rhythm. The
breathing allows the mind to release particular emotional and
intuitive energies that power the consciousness to expand . In this
technique you go from the individual mind to the universal mind."

This was also from KY Guidelines for Sadhana

Blessings

Brad
