Default Simple kriya 4 depression

Hi all,

Does anyone know of any simple KY kriyas or single KY asanas that will help
with depression. I know of a couple in Gurmukh's book, "The 8 human
talents." Any others would be very helpful.

Thank You...

Peace and love to you all,

Nirinjan Singh

Sat Nam!,

I have this 15 minutes routine that really lifts me up when I need it:

- Chant "Ek Ong Kar Satgurprasad, Satgurprasad Ek Ong Kar" 5 times. This changes
the mind from negative to positive.
- 5 minutes of breath of fire, gives you some energy (fire) to get you going.
- 7 (or more) minutes of "Wahe guru, wahe jio" while concentrating on the 7th
chakra.

Works every time

Also some yoga-humor might help:
Mahatma Gandhi was a revered yogi, and chose to live rugged and ascetic
lifestyle. He often went barefoot and as a result, developed calloused feet. He
ate a sparing vegetarian diet, including many beans, and developed bad breath.
He also went on a number of fasts, which caused him to become somewhat weak.

He was a "Super-calloused fragile mystic with extra halitosis".

Hope this helps,

blessings,

Henno

It is the upward moving pranas (I forget the correct term) that really relieve
depression. So working the pranas from the throat, circulating them in the head
and out the crown chakra is what relieves depression. So look for sets that sort
of fit into that schema, which is sort of what Henno is doing. There is
an exercise for working the pranas directly in the aforementioned manner. I will
look for it and then post it later.

just a thought: back bending postures are helpful for combatting depression,
so perhaps any kriyas that contain poses like camel or cobra would be nice
to practice.

be happy!

Bad for depression in a vata type, however, because most backbends increase
vata.
