Default onions & garlic - 05-02-2002, 01:07 AM

Sat Nam dearest group,

First of all I want to thank all of you again for sharing so much!

Somebody asked: Why shouldn't I eat garlic or onions, when I'm a yogi?

I don't see a reason, why I shouldn't eat them, and I also know, many
KundaliniYogis like onions and garlic.

Any ideas?

A wonderful day for all

Sonja

SAT NAM Micha,

There was a thread about this in early April... you can go look on the
archives of the list on groups.yahoo.com to view all the posts. Here's a
missive from what I had to say on the subject:

The way I was taught, is that it all depends on how, and how much, your mind
is affected by the food you eat. Garlic stimulates the mind, so if you would
prefer a calmer consciousness for yoga and meditation, you can avoid it. But
if you have a challenging day job and need to be alert and stimulated when
you AREN'T doing Yoga, okay! Eat accordingly!

Garlic has many healthy qualities, it isn't bad for you to eat it, it can
just be an obstacle for a calm, concentrated meditative mind if that is what
you want. Same with the other spicy foods and the onions that are not part
of the traditional yogic diet...

NAMASTE
elle
