I have often wondered the same thing! I was introduced to Kundalini Yoga
almost one year ago-- and at the time, I was desperately needing a remedy
after a 9 month long drug binging loneliness -- I was searching for a way to
deal with feelings of depression, irritation, frustration with life, etc.
etc. I was blessed to be invited to take a class by a fabulous woman who had
been my neighbor and was a friend of my family's. The class felt like a warm
bath it was so comfortable and purifying. I was blessed to have such an
excellent teacher who not only introduced me to the wonders of KY and
meditation (and yogi tea! ), but who also aided in helping me reopen my heart
to myself (and hence, to others!).

I haven't stopped doing KY since. I think it's amazing how the universe
supplies everything you need, just when you need it. KY has changed my
perspective on life-- I feel as though it gently turned my sight inward and
right side up! I feel as though I have grown (into myself, perhaps) more in
this past 10 months than at any other time of my life. I went to Winter
Solstice, which was by far the most incredible, opening experience of my
life! Now I am looking forward to attending my first summer solstice and I
am also going to attend the Masters Touch Training. Now I can't imagine my
life without kundalini yoga -- I'm glad you found it, too! spread the love
and light: the souls that are ready will enter your life-- and the peace
grows louder . . .

I met a guy at a coffee shop (Stimulance) in Buffalo, NY through a friend of
mine. He played the congas, practiced reiki and yoga. We traded a reiki
session for his astrology chart and then we fell in love. A few days later
he took me to my first yoga class, which was kundalini. I was hooked and
started practicing every day from then on. My entire life changed, it was
like I woke up. I became a vegetarian, stopped drinking coffee without even
thinking that I should, stopped smoking from a pack a day, and became aware
of my thoughts and really felt my body. He moved across the country a few
weeks later, we stayed in touch and now we are married with two children!

I'd been wanting to do yoga for a long time but had never gone to a class as
I was fearful of being embarassed by my weight and how silly I'd look doing
it in front of other people. My son bought me a yoga video for my birthday
so I could learn at home. The video was the first in the beginners series by
Nirvair Khalsa. I don't think there are any other types of Kundalini Yoga
videos in the stores in Australia (not that I've seen in Melbourne anyway).
In the last 2 weeks I have bought the whole set as I enjoy it SOOOO much.

I'm still working my way through them and am also thoroughly enjoying the
knowledge that comes from this group.
