Default Spiritual Master - 01-10-2000, 11:29 PM

Sat Nam all,

I would like to know how important the spiritual master in Kundalini Yoga is?
How can a master influence our spiritual progress? I know we have to tune in
(Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo) to get the connection with God & the lineage of
"Kundalini Yoga masters" from the past and present (Yogi Bhajan?!?) but
what's going on further?
And my last question: To gain progress is it necessary to surrender to the
master...and how can a low trust in the master affect the progress?

Love & Respect
Pal

Dear Pal, I have answered some of your concerns below. I'm not totally sure
where you have concerns, but I will share my thoughts.

I feel that all the knowledge of the ages is passed on through the Master. I
feel it is either use their knowledge or spend 10,000 incarnations figuring
it out for ourself.

We need to surrender to God. The master is a guide. We should only follow
someone we trust and respect. For me that is Yogi Bhajan. The message is
important not the messenger, but I assume we should show reverence for the
gift he is sharing.

Yogi Bhajan said that "a teacher is a warning": his role is to warn you when
you take a wrong step. The worst of them is probably to idolize your
teacher. Any good teacher will tell you that you cannot live vicariously.
You have to go ahead on your own instead of stopping at the feet of your
spiritual teacher. If he tells you to surrender to him instead of your
higher self, he is not a teacher. And I certainly hope that is not what you
understood you have to do...

"If you cannot find the Truth right where you are, where do you expect to
find it?"

Sat Nam,

Alina
