Default # "datta" " datta " yana raadaa.. # English translation

jaya guru datta

One of the members sent an e-mail saying my post looked like
Greek. :-)
Immediately I turned to that higher power who made me write that
song, and said :-) " Hey ! you complained a few days ago that I keep
hiding everything in my box with out sharing with any one. See what
happened now that I have shared ? If I keep it up with all the
things you promised, they might even call me a geek for posting this
kind of stuff there. If you care for me really, better give me some
words fast, so that I can give atleast a reasonable English
translation for that song . Who knows ? If I am lucky, it might even
give them an impression that I am truly a genuine seeker. What do
you say? Would you please help? "
With boundless compassion and overflowing love it started pouring..

Here is the result..and I take leave for now..with promise to share
with you a beautiful treat real soon :-)

(At least that's what I was told when I read it at DRC over the
weekend.. )

Why not say "datta" "datta"
-----------------------------

Why not say "datta" "datta"
Why not ask Him for His grace

Why not ask him
standing in your heart
to show you the friendship
and to show you the light

It will be too late when the death is near
Even if you want to, you can't raise your voice
Even if you sit there (beating your head) in despair
it won't ring, even a bit
Getting out of that intoxicated state,
keeping a steady mind,
at least now

Why not say "datta" "datta"
Why not ask Him for his grace
Why not ask to take you ashore

Instead of struggling every day
with brand new desires
Instead of spending this life
infatuated with money

With sincerity in the heart
if you reach out and pray
cutting all the layers(of ignorance) ,
opening your eyes fast
lifting you higher and higher
letting you know who you really are
He bestows upon you the eternal bliss
and gives you all there is

Why not say "datta" "datta"
Why not ask Him for his grace
Why not ask Him to take you to the shore

Why not ask him
standing in your heart
to show you the friendship
and to show you the light

Instead of waiting/ postponing for tomorrow
forgetting all the rest, at this very moment
why not say "datta" "datta"
why not ask Him for His grace
and to take you ashore

During lunch break, at work

Having just finished my lunch, as soon as I had a sip
of that herbal tea in front of me, I happened to
remember the words said by one of the datta family
members, Sreenivaas, just yesterday at DRC, about DRC and his son
aravinda datta. Immediately the words of the above song bubbled
up.
