Kazakhstan Update
Dear Devotees,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
Following is an update on the Kazakhstan situation:
The representative of the General Prosecutors' office said on the
last day of the Commission (3rd of January, 2007) that the Karasai District
Prosecutors office has opened a criminal case against the members of the
Society for Krishna Consciousness (SKC).
This means that without even making investigation they have announced that
they have opened a criminal case.
By this new claim they are making the ground ready to cancel the
Supreme Court decision of 2005 which is the biggest obstacle for the
government. The Supreme Court decision has granted the right of land use
to SKC.
The government could win case after case but according to the decision
of the Sureme Court we are bonafide purchasers and users of the land.
If they win this criminal case the prosecutor can make a prosecutors
protest to Supreme Court requesting to cancel the decision of the Supreme
Court because there will be decision of a district court, which will
consider the sales and purchase agreement between Zhaksybekov and
Consortium (Society for Krishna Consciousness) null and void.
This is their plan.
This means they bulldozed houses of our people, 13 families have no place to
live, and now they have concentrated their efforts on the 47.7 hectares land
owned by us.
The way the other court cases have been executed there is not so much hope
to win these ones.
OSCE has informed embassies in Kaz of a briefing next week, and a think
tank on how they can join hands to save our situation.
Please continue with your prayers for the Kazakhstan devotees and the future
of the preaching in our yatra.
With affectionate regards,
BB Govinda Swami
