Default forever?

A significant enhancement was an embankment that served two vital functions,
protection from Gangä floods and providing an access road, and thus changed
the face of Mäyäpur forever.

This statement was queried: But what constituted of material elements is
"forever"?

Apart from Mayapur not being constituted of material elements, is this a
valid consideration? Is it acceptable in a largely philosophical book to use
a conventional phrase,.overlooking its philosophical inaccuracy, when
describing a non-philosophical topic?

Thankyou to the members of this conf for your patience and responsiveness in
handling my many queries.

how about "and thus permanently changing the face of Mayapur." "Permanent"
is not as forever as forever.
