Sadhu Swami and the Brahmacarya Conference
Dear Respected Members of the Brahmacarya Conference,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
Back in August Sadhu Swami made some comments that disturbed some members of
this conference, and they suggested that I suspend him. One reason given
for suspending him was that he took sannyasa from a non-ISKCON sannyasi and
the other was that his comments were offensive.
At the time, I was traveling with Indradyumna Swami's Polish Festival Tour
and did I not want to spend my time at Poland's Internet cafes researching
the character and activities of Sadhu Swami. I also did not want the
Brahmacarya members minds disturbed by controversial statements and
refutations. Thus I suspended him temporarily 'until I could sort out the
situation', for which he was a bit offended. Now he wants to know my
decision on the matter.
If we decide to make it a rule for this conference that persons with
non-ISKCON affiliations cannot be a part of this conference, then of course
the question is solved. Then to be fair we would also have to remove other
people in a similar situation. I do not know how many other people this
will affect. At any rate, I do not feel myself to be more than one
insignificant member of the conference and do not wish to force my opinion
on this on everyone else. Perhaps we could have some discussion about it.
After deciding this point, we can worry about the particulars of Sadhu
Swami's case.
your servant,
Krishna-kripa das
moderator of Brahmacarya
