Do the puranas deny the supremacy of Śri KRSNA (Vishnu)?
Hare Krsna !
Please accept my humble obeisances.
It is said that there are 18 main puranas wich are divisioned:1).sattvik
puranas 2). rajas puranas 3). tamasik puranas.
I`ve heard from devotees that not all of them are dedicated to Lord Visnu
(Krsna) and some of them (Skanda P., Agni P.) advice to worship some
demigods (tamasik - Lord Siva, rajas - Lord Brahma). I`ve also heard that
those demigods are described there as the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
Those devotees didn`t give any shastric references.
My question is: How it possible that the Vedic literature denys the position
of Lord Krsna (Visnu)?
I`ve heard that some texts was changed and Lord Caitanya accepted only
Bhagavatam, Gita, Vedanta - sutra & Brahma - samhita (govindam adi
purusam....). Is it true ?
I ask because I`ve read fragments of Agni Purana and Brahmanda purana and I
found there that worship of Supreme Lord (Krsna or His incarnation) can give
spiritual progress and Liberation to worshipers. I didn`t find some
fragments that deny the supremacy of Lord Visnu.
I could be wrong , so I`ll be very appreciate for any autorised shastric
