Default Re: hanuman....

i have not heard anyone sayign hanuman is a vishnu avatar.

swami anantacharya says that
siva wanted to serve rama and carry him on his shoulder.
so he came as a monkey because
it is normal to ride on an animal than on a man.

rama on the other hand says
that his worshiper should also worship/respect siva.

Default Acharayas of certain sects misconsture the scriptures

Hanuman was he son of Vayu the Lord of the wind and Arijana who was seduced by Vayu. The scriptures state that 'his form is as vast as a mountain' and as tall as a gigantic tower. His complexion is yellow and glowing like molten gold. His face is as red as the brightest ruby while his enormous tail spreads out to an interminable length. He stands on a lofty rock and roars like thunder. He leaps into the air and flies among the clouds with a rushing noise, while the ocean waves are roaring and splashing below. Ramayana further says, "The chief of monkeys is a perfect being. No one can equal him in learning of SHASTRAS and in comprehending the meaning and sense of scriptures. In all sciences and in the rules of austerity, he rivals the preceptor of the gods. Hanuman is the ninth author of grammar."

Default Hanumanji is Mukhya Prana

Hanumanji is incarnation of Mukhya Prana (Lord of life).
It is clearly stated in Vayu purana. Vayu purana is SAthvic-upapurana.

Also both in Moola Ramayana & Valmiki Ramayana theres no reference of Lord Hanuman as incarnation of Lord Shiva.

If someone wants to know more about Hanuman they should Vayu purana, Hari-Vayu Stuthi, Moola Ramayana & Valmiki Ramanyana. All other texts are unauthentic.

At present Mukhya prana's first incarnation - Hanumanji is in "Holy Sholingar Hill" in Tamilnadu(india). Mukhya Prana's third incarnation - "Sri Jagadguru Madhvacharya" is serving Sri Badrayana Vyasa Near Badrinath.

Default Shiv Puraan

The Shiv Puraan talks of Hanuman being an avtaar on Shiv and being one of the last rudras. This is also mentioned in the Sri Ramcharita Manas and Pujya Sant Morari Bapu has openly said this in his Ram Katha discourses. Please don't be so dismissive.

Default Hanumanji Maharaj

Sri Hanumanji is an incarnation of Lord Siva.

Brihaspati (the preceptor of the gods) had an attendant by the name of Punjikasthala who was cursed to assume the body of a female monkey. The curse was to be removed on her giving birth to an incarnation of Lord Siva. Accordingly, she was born as Anjana and, together with her husband Kesari (so named on account of his being as brave as a lion), lived a life of chastity and purity. She performed intense Tapasya (austerities) for a great many years, during which period she worshipped Lord Siva who being pleased with her granted her a boon. She asked that He (Lord Siva) be born to her so that she may be freed from the curse.

When Dasaratha, the king of Ayodhya was given the sacred payasa (pudding) by Agnideva to share among his wives so that they may have divine children (Ram, Lakshmana, Bharata and Shatrughna), by divine ordinance, a bird (kite) snatched a fragment of that pudding and, whilst flying over the forest, dropped it where Anjana was engaged in worship. Pavandev (the deity presiding over the wind) delivered that fragment of pudding to the outstretched hands of Anjana who immediately swallowed it. With that grace, she, in due course, gave birth to Hanumanji. Thus we find that Lord Siva incarnated as Hanumanji in the bodily form of a monkey through the grace and blessings of his god-father Pavandev, with Anjana and Kesari as his earthly parents.

also from Sunderkaan of Tulsi Ramayana, it is written prabhu kara ke sisam, sumiri so dasa magana gaurisa....which means....the lotus hand of the Lord rested on his head. Gauris lord (shiva) was overcome with emotion as He called to mind hanumans eviable lot. Lord shiva Himself had taken the form of hanuman. it was, therefore, easy for Him to recall that thrilling experience.

Rig Veda 10.99.5

sa rudrebhirashastavAra R^ibhvA hitvI gayamAre avadya AgAt.h |
vamrasya manye mithunA vivavrI annamabhItyArodayanmushhAyan.h ||

That rAma returned to His place, ayodhyA accompanied by the blemishless sItAdevI and HanumAn and other companions. Since He wanted to eliminate any allegation regarding rAvaNa's having touched His wife, sItA, He sent Her back to the forest. She was weeping in the forest (and was offered shelter by vAlmIki). Her sons, lava and kusha, studied under vAlmIki and spread the rAmAyaNa all over the world. This is my understanding (says the mantra-drashhTA).

Notes:

1. The word "rudrebhiH" in 10.99.5 is interpreted as "hanumadAdibhiH sahAyaiH", "by followers such as HanumAn, by nIlakaNTha", and even sAyaNa in his bhAshhya interprets "rudrebhiH" as "rudraputrair- marudbhiH", "by Maruts, the sons of Rudra." Indeed, in the Rig Veda, Rudra is addressed as "pitar.h marutAm.h" , "O Father of the Maruts." The Maruts are wind gods and Rudra is their father. Here lies the basis for the identification of HanumAn with Shiva. An "aMsha" of Shiva is described as having descended as HanumAn according to this view.

Rig Veda 9.73.7

VAlmIKi, who has his senses under control, who has infinite wisdom and is skilled in writing poetry, with his verses of the rAmAyaNa purifies speech itself in that infinitely purifying stream, the all-pervading Ishvara whom he extols. Among poets like VAlmIki is the revered HanumAn (who is an aMsha of Rudra Himself), who moves very swiftly, who bears malice towards none, whose is excellent in judgement, and who is in search of sItA and sees Her. HanumAn's poetic skills are no less than VAlmIki's because He narrated the story of rAma (to sItA in the ashoka-vana).

Default Hanuman Chaalissa

Hi, has anyone read the hanuman chaalissa a hundred times? Does it really free you from liberation and bondage, or does it just cleanse your mind and help you get there.

Also, they are putting the monkeys in India in jails. They are not killing them since they revere Hanuman. Does anyone else know about this?

Thanks

Default ahnuman avatar

Although everybody is a part of and parcel of Lod vishnu the supremelord, but as a matter of avatara i should say Sri Hanuman is the daasa of Lod vishnu he is not the avatara; he is rudravatara! (as we can see in ramayana Sri hanuman served Lord Rama as a dasa )
