THE VAISHNAVA COMMUNITY In honor of the Appearance Days of Sri Sri

Sita-Rama and Their servant Hanuman, Torchlight Publishing has just

launched Ramayana.com. Says publisher Advaita Candra dasa, We want

Ramayana.com to be the place where anyone can go to find out anything

and everything about Lord Ramachandra and His devotees. This will be

a website that will include something fun, informative, and

enlightening for every member of the family. Here you will be able to

find out anything about Ramayana that you could possibly want to

know.

Cherished throughout India and Asia for millennia, the story of Lord

Rama has been faithfully preserved and passed on in varied forms of

popular expression2epic poems, folk tales, music, dance, drama,

puppet shows, sculpture, painting, even films and comic books. Its

story and characters have captured the hearts and minds of countless

generations. Torchlight hopes to encourage families, especially the

children, to develop a sense of belonging to this great and wonderful

culture, and to appreciate and remember Lord Ramachandra and His

story.

 

With this in mind, Ramayana.com is being established as a service to

provide ongoing resources for the Vaishnava community. There will be

monthly contests to win great prizes and downloadable resources such

as excerpts from books about Lord Rama, information about holy Rama-

tirthas, where to find books, audio, and video about Lord Rama, as

well as art and figurines, information about Ramayana-related events,

a question and answer section, and more.

In April and May, Ramayana.com is running its first contest,

continuing through May 31st, 2001. Involving both a coloring contest

and a crossword puzzle, there are three levels: one for children up

to 8 years of age, one for children ages 9 through 15, and a third

for adults (16 and over).

 

Children up to 8 years of age will be asked to complete the coloring

picture of Sita-Rama in crayon or colored pencil. Children ages 9

through 15: Draw and color a freehand picture of Sita-Rama. If you're

16 or over, fill in the correct answers to the crossword puzzle.

Prizes will include a Rama coloring book, a Sita's Wedding video, or

the book Ramayana / India's Immortal Tale of Adventure, Love, and

Wisdom.
