Default Demystifying Spiritual phrases - 2 - That which moves and does not move - 02-19-2005, 10:52 AM

Dear All_ye_with_a_vedantic_turn_of_mind ,

Here is another phrase that stumps me...

It says in the Guru Gita Verse 62 ...
"That (Guru Principle) moves and that (Guru Principle) does not
move. ..."

What does it mean to you ? Can you share ?

Please share even if you dont have a vedantic turn of mind but have
some insight into this verse.

Thank you and Jai Maa
Nanda

The Guru is Brahma, the Guru is Vishnu, the Guru is the Lord
Maheshvara. The Guru is actually the Supreme Divinity. Therefore we
bow down to the Respected Guru.
The Guru is Everything. He is the Principle that moves and does not move.
Jai Guru!!!

Namaste, Nandaji, and all of our beloved family,

To me, 'That Which Moves' is 'Shakti, the Divine Energy'.She who
Dances Upon the Stage of Consciousness'. She Who
Changes...Nature. 'That Which Moves Not'is Shiva, He Who Never
Changes, the Witness to Shakti's Dance...Consciousness.

Jai Maa! Jai Swamiji! Jai Ramakrishna Deva!

The guru priciple is dynamic, proactive and fosters all manner
transformation toward betterment. Conversely the guru priciple
is also deeply silent, absolutely still and supremely perceptive.
Unmoving all move within it. Without tasting it tastes all things.
Unknowing there is nothing it does not know. This writing could go
on for pages, hours and days, yet it would still be deficient in its
discription of the guru.

Without reaching there is nothing it does not touch. Taking nothing
it encompasses all. Nutritive it vitalizes. All issue from it and in
the end return to it. This is just the way it should be. And this is
the way it is and always will be. Without an adequate word for it we
could call it Maa.

I was reading the Bhagavad Gita this evening, and ran across this:
Chapter 13, verse 15 (Eknath Easwaran's trans.):

"It [the beginningless Brahman] is both near and far,
both within and without every creature,
it moves and is unmoving."

So I think this phrase can be interpreted to be exactly parallel to
the verses Ardis has quoted below.
