My experiences are similar to yours. Teachers tend to use their

students. I know how it feels for students. Students tend to " bend

over backwards " to make sure their teacher is not embarrassed in any

way. It is a very natural reaction when a student idolizes a teacher.

I have had various energy experts " try things " out on me. Things never

work as planned. A " sensitive " energy expert could touch me and know

right away what is " happening " . Most of the time, however, they are

quite surprised by the results. They shouldn't be though. So everyone

is still learning - including myself. Sometimes I wonder whether it

would be more gracious of me to " play along " and not embarrass the

demonstrator. But I think, as long as I do exactly as he/she asks me

to, then I think I am doing the " right thing " . But maybe not.

There are probably people who can do much more than I have personally

experienced. How much more, I cannot say. I think that if there are

people who can " shock " without touch, I do not know of anyone who has

actually witnessed it including my teachers.

Maybe there are some members of this forum who have different

experiences.

Regards,

Rich

Hi Rich and Brian,

I have never seen the one finger throws. The level of stuff I've seen

has been in Aikido, with the amazing unbendable arm stuff. But not

without touch being involved. There are some moves where the attacker

gets out of the way cause there is a hand coming right at the face and a

good fall is better.

I have seen a couple of Tai Ji masters of amazing skill come through our

center. One grew up at Wu Dang Mountain, from 9 years of age and he by

far is the best martial artist I've seen. It would seem to me if one had

that skill, one wouldn't be showing it off because it would be in

violation of some other principles in Taoism. Like not flashing your

dangerous weapons or showing off great wealth. The attainment of such

skill if it existed would be in the nature of someone very very

spiritual minded and sensitive. All that throwing around for show

would be vulgar IMHO.

I do think there are a lot of healers that heal by just being present

and sharing great Qi and Harmony. We've done some healing at our center

with a group of students addressing a group of healers. But then it

gets hairy. Lots more people meditating at the same time will raise the

level of energy in a room, the quietness, the combined breathing in

harmony, the safety in numbers. Lots of factors.
