Re: [Ashtanga Yoga] How to build strength in shoulders?
I'll take a chance and throw my two cents in here. I have a
unique set of circumstances which I am remedying through some
light weight training (20-100lbs). I have muscular atrophy and
a ridiculous body type morphology; worse, for a man, I am
extremely weak. Three days/week is devoted to weight work with
intense yoga workouts ~3-4hrs following that. Six days/week I
devote to 7 mile walk, which in the not too distant future will
become my seven mile run. I follow that workout after
re-hydrating myself with long yoga stretches involving
hamstrings, quads, glutes, and all abs and lower back. I will
be 55 next month...the point is, you must work the muscle and
then stretch it. I have been able to avoid tight shoulders and
hips this way. Also, check your med-s, if you are taking them,
for they can be a cause too.
