Default Big Bang - 02-09-2000, 10:15 PM

From: EDTipple <edtipple@...>

Dear Jay,

I thought quantum physics had taken science beyond the Big Bang Theory
and to evolution/dissolution. And I thought it was hovering around Pure
Consciousness as distinct from brain consciousness. Am I incorrect?

------Response--------

Dear Edith

The findings of quantum mechanics are truly very inspiring and very much in
line with the findings seen in 'Advaita'.

General relativity allowed for 'big bang' idea and thus a new theory of
'creation' was born. Still a problem remained. If we reverse time and go
back to the 'big bang' - we find that we hit 'infinities'. These infinities
are a real bother because they defy normal
calculations. You just cannot deal with them - all physical laws as we know
them go up in a puff of smoke. How do we handle the situation at the
beginning of time? This point is called a 'singularity' in physics. The best
resolution seems to come from Quantum Mechanics - which says - at the heart
of everything is a 'certain uncertainty'. So handle this singularity at the
time of big-bang as such. The whole 'show' has been born out of this
uncertainty principle. We then do not have a singular point of creation to
worry about. The whole thing has popped out of nothing. The whole thing is
just a 'quantum fluctuation'. Which allows for such things as the whole
universe to pop out of 'nothing'.

Such ideas in Physics have a great deal in common with the 'Creation verse
seen in the Vedic literature.

I personally feel we live in very exciting times - we may find modern
science to be the greatest ally to spirituality. Imagine how much this can
benefit mankind! If science begins to act as an ally - a great upsurge
towards spiritual matters will benefit a very large portion of mankind.
