I agree with Dr. Gopal - one has seen many cases of advanced liver
damage benefited by Ayurveda. It is not possible to remove the scar
tissue that has been created but it is possible to eliminate the
infectious and inflammtory conditions and the congestion can be
drained - this will allow the healthy tissue to function as well as
possible and although the patient will not ever achieve optimal liver
function - they will be able to live a normal life and avoid the
devestation of advancing liver failure and possibly liver cancer.
Cirrhosis should always be treated to the extent possible since much
benefit in quality of life and relief of symptoms can be derived. In
fact liver diseases are a very fruitful area for Ayurveda. This is an
area where Western medicine has nothing to offer but traditional
medicine has been treating these diseases for thousands of years.
