I agree with you (more than 100%). But sometimes we have to learn
some hard facts even if it is upalatable.

Strangely if it does not suit, we tend to ignore their wise counsel.
Is it correct.

We do not follow their wise counsel because of our inability. But
learning what is correct is very important. That will show us how
much we are off from what is correct. That will make us understand
that we are in such a pitiable state and sharaNagati to ambaaL is
the ONLY way. To quote niilakaNTha diixita:

na jnAyate mama hitam nitaraam upaayo
diino.asmi devii samayaacharaNaaxamo.asmi
tattvaam ananya sharaNah sharaNam prapadye
miinaaxii vishva jananii jananii mamaiva

1) I do not know (for most part) what is good/right for me.

2) Even for a little I know (for most of it) I do not know the right
way to do it.

3) Even for a little of which I know the right way, I do not have
have ability to adhere to that right/traditional method. samaya
aacharaNa axamaH asmi. This inability is more of mental than it is
physical.

4) When I am in such a pitiable state -- the only refuge I have is
sharaNagatii to ambaaL. She is provide that because SHE being the
MOTHER of this universe -- which implies -- especially my MOTHER. It
is HER natural state if HER child goes and falls at HER feet and
cries out loud "ammaa I do not know anything, I am helpless, please
lift me up". SHE will take it up from there. SHE is very very
compassionate. I can tell that from my personal experience.
