Narasimha

The following 22 pictures are some of the most amazing pictures of deities of Lord Narasimha we have ever seen.

Lord Narasimha is fourth of Lord Vishnu’s ten incarnations (Dasavatara). He is especially worshiped for protection as He appeared to protect his dear devotee Bhakta Prahlada from the asura Hiranyakashipu. Hiranyakashipu had tried many ways to kill his son, Prahlada, but the Lord had protected him each time. Finally in anger Hiranyakashipu asked to Prahlada, “Where is this God of yours that you keep speaking of?” To which Prahlada replied, “He is present everywhere.”

In anger Hiranyakashipu asked, “If he is everywhere, then is he in this pillar?” Prahlada informed him that Lord Vishnu is both inside and outside of everything in creation, including the pillar which Hiranyakashipu had pointed to. Hiranyakashipu took out his sword and said, “Then I will kill this Vishnu of yours,” and raised his sword to strike the pillar. At that moment the pillar burst open and Lord Narasimha appeared, as half man and half lion, to kill Hiranyakashipu and save his devotee Bhakta Prahlada.

My firm belief is that Lord Narshima is apparent attachment to each and every soul that exists in the whole Universe…and thus holds all the roots of a soul since it’s firth birth in any form…Worshiping Lord Narshima in any way, in any form, is exquisitely creating a passage for self-emancipation and profoundly keeping the evils and demons away from our life…Advantageously, a lamp of soil or silver with mustard oil in the morning and the evening facilities the process…Lord Narshima is the healer of all DOSSAs of human life…Om Shri Narshima namha…Mohan

Nice pictures of Lord Narasimha in different postures. The face of Lord shows how angry he was with wicked King of demons. Lord has come down to Earth when ever required to punish the wicked and protect pious people. He looks terrorising to bad and appealing to good. He protects who completely surrenders to Him.

    Om Namho Narayana!!

  54. bhu raman says:

Why is Sudharsanazhwar at the back of Lord Narasimha? He was not supposed to use weapons to kill Hinranyakasipu. That is why he used his nails to tear the body of the victim. He fulfilled all the boons (conditions) that the demon obtained from Lord Brahma. But it is common in the south that in all temples he is found with the Sudarsana at his back and while performing pradakshinam we worship sudarsana also.
